Fund Manager

Your role as an investor, puts you in an excellent position to bring strategic advice to other companies both those that are approaching you for the first time and those who are already part of your investment portfolio. It may be that you can see gaps that need to be filled or restructuring needs, the fulfillment of which would make a better candidate for funding or a better portfolio holding.

Having seen the issues, however, doesn't mean that you can always see the solutions or that you want to divert your focus away from your primary responsibilities to provide this advice. Perhaps the Chesterfield Group can provide you an alternative that will help the company without diluting your scarce time playing this role.

Of course, we can't claim to be of assistance on all your clients' peripheral needs, but there are some specific ones where we might help you to better serve them and expand your relationship in the process. For example, it is likely that we can help if you have a client who is contemplating

  • An acquisition,
  • A restructuring or
  • A major outsourcing project.

In each of those cases, your client will be creating a significant relationship with another company, and structuring those relationships is at the core of our expertise.

We are equally comfortable serving as a member of your client team, fully visible to your client, or working for you behind the scenes on your client's needs—either way, leaving you completely in control of your client relationship.

Example

You have invested in a promising young company that has rewarded you with two years of solid growth. It is now, however, entering into a new stage in its development, and your analysis of its Business Model suggests changes are in order. The company is still too young for an IPO, and another round of financing would be too expensive because of a tight financing market. Perhaps the Chesterfield Group could help with both the Business Model changes and with developing alternative structures, such as joint ventures, to put the growth back in this growth company.
